and there IS coffee

... but not so great. I will need to make a trip into Hong Kong to pick up a stove top espresso maker and some quality beans!

Spring loaded dance floor

I went out for supper with the gang last night and then we headed out to a Chinese club... omg there was a spring loaded dance floor! I was thinking of Lisa W. while there… my favorite dancing girl! If she were here we would have totally been able to show China how to work the dance floor! The disco wasn’t the type of place I would go to on a regular basis but worth checking out.

Exploring Huizhou

I spent yesterday trekking around the city getting an idea of the nearby neighborhoods. I took my camera with. I had such a great time wandering – I think I’ll get along here just fine! I spoke to several natives of this city and they were all very helpful. There are a lot of really friendly people here and I’m noticing a lot of smiles… of course a lot of stares too. I went into a Buddhist shop to look for some incense and the women who worked there ended up giving me a japa mala which I thought was so sweet of her. She was lovely and her smile shone so beautifully. In the afternoon I met up with two other 'newbies' here and we went and checked out this beautiful place called West Lake.
The driving in Huizhou is intense

Shops everywhere

drinking a common milk based drink - tastes like cake

I still need to explore the markets more - they seem lovely

There is SO much construction everywhere in Huizhou

So my coworkers are totally cool. Everybody is so down to earth here and helpful when it comes to getting around and stuff.

Home is in a high rise located in central Huizhou

Stop off in Seoul

Around 28 hours later and I finally arrived. After spending nearly 9 hours in the Seoul airport I was totally spent. There was a typhoon that hit southern China which delayed my flight. I know that airport like the back of my hand now. I met a cute gay boy while waiting in Seoul (Photo below). He’s off to Hong Kong so I’ll be getting into touch with him at some point. He says there’s a great queer community in Shenzhen so I’ll definitely be checking that out.

shoot shoot shoots

OH MY GODDESS! Only 20 days until I leave! I'm scrambling to get everything done and I'm so crazy to continue to take on new photo gigs, but I do it. I just finished the edits on a promo shot for Royal Porcupine Production's rendition of Vinegar Tom and I must say I love these sorts of shoots because the outcome is so much fun. Come on tell me, really, who wouldn't love turning an innocent girl into "666-esque scary spice girl-witch power" (thanks for the title Auntie Drew) !!!

Just a few more shoots to go, some packing, and time to spend with friends and family, only after than, I'll finally be ready to fly!
